Why am I starting "The Perfume Blog"?
Personally, I feel that “The Perfume Blog” is a wonderful way to share our knowledge and decades of experience in niche fragrances and network with like-minded people. In this day and age, when the world is getting faster and faster and we are often flooded with information, such a blog provides an ideal platform to share our knowledge in an accessible and timely manner. I hope that “The Perfume Blog” will become a platform where we can learn together, get inspired and celebrate our love for perfume. Thank you so much for being part of it!
WHAT MAKES ME A FRAGRANCE EXPERT?
I am often asked how I became a fragrance expert. In my case, it’s a combination of family background, profession and passion. Fragrances have been familiar to me since childhood, as my father, Henning Biehl, is a perfumer himself. Perfume has also always played a central role in my professional career.
Profession and passion of a fragrance expert
After graduating from high school, I studied and worked for more than 16 years at Germany’s largest fragrance manufacturer (then Haarmann & Reimer, now Symrise) as business administrator in various functions. In the first five years, I went through all the relevant perfume departments, from purchasing to sales, from creation to production. Later on, my professional stations took me to Mexico for six years, where I promoted fragrance development in Central to South America. I then spent five years in the American branch in New York.

Finally, it was time to start my own business: I founded my own olfactory gallery, biehl. parfumkunstwerke, a manufacturer of niche fragrances that started in Hamburg in 2007 and has been based in Berlin since 2009. In 2012 I founded the company“Olfactory Worlds“, which specializes in the consultation and production of perfume for small and medium size companies, who want to successfully launch their own perfume brand.
The Perfume collective - Niche online perfumery
After long preparations, the digital niche online perfumery “The Perfume Collective”, for which I will start this blog, opened in spring 2023. With our curated Discovery Sets we hope to revolutionize the sampling process for interested consumers and I hope we can share my/our knowledge and passion for niche fragrances and connect with like-minded people. What does "The Perfume Blog" have to offer?
I’ve been fortunate to be rooted in the perfume world for over 30 years, know a variety of makers, perfumers and brands, and know a lot about fragrance compositions, raw materials and fun anecdotes. My desire is to share this knowledge and passion with other fragrance enthusiasts and create a platform where we can exchange ideas about many aspects of the perfume world. This blog will reflect my/our expertise in the form of reviews, opinions and comments on perfumes, brands, perfumers and fragrance trends in niche perfumery.
