Saskia Diez
Saskia Diez trained as a goldsmith and then studied industrial design. After working as a designer for Rosenthal, Christian Haas and Konstantin Grcic, she opened her own studio in Munich in 2007. Her formally reduced designs reveal influences from art, fashion and industrial design. They impress with clarity and intelligent simplicity, play with tradition and modernity and refer to the spirit of the times without being fashionable.
With the eau de parfums GOLD and SILVER, Saskia Diez launched her first “invisible, olfactory gems” in November 2013.
GOLD and SILVER are the first two fragrances by Saskia Diez, created in collaboration with perfume artist Geza Schön. The challenge: to give olfactory expression to the precious metals of gold and silver, which are closely associated with the jewelry designer’s work. “It was clear that this would only ever be an associative game and not an experiment in the strict sense, because neither silver nor gold smells of anything,” says Saskia Diez of the development process. However, with GOLD and SILVER, Diez und Schön has succeeded in giving both metals an olfactory profile, creating two invisible gems. GOLD is a warm, sweet scent, while SILVER emphasizes the cool exterior of shimmering metal. The flacons, decorated with a gold or silver chain, provide the two olfactory valuables with the appropriate visual setting.
